The site is not perfect, but it does have some unexpected abilities. For instance, in order to test its own grammar, I practiced saying some phrases incorrectly by making some common mistakes, and the program recognized them and either typed something totally different or, in some cases, it corrected the mistake to be proper grammar!
I have not used this in my teaching yet, but I do have some budding ideas!
- Of course, dictating anything that I do not feel like typing.
- Recording transcripts of videos that I record for the flipped classroom. Up until now, my videos have no captions, and therefore are not accessible to students with disabilities.
- Students can record themselves in order to check their pronunciation.
